There are a few special times during the year when members from the various churches in The Living Word Fellowship gather together for an intensive schedule of services that are powerful and miraculous meetings with God. The following is a list of the biblical feasts, celebrations, and retreats held by The Living Word Fellowship.
School of Prophets in Niterói, Brazil
At the beginning of the year, many people throughout South America gather in Brazil for a time of worship services and inter-church fellowship. Ministries from the United States, Mexico and other countries also attend, treasuring the opportunity to be with their international brothers and sisters.
Feast of Passover
The
time of Passover consists of the Lord's Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread,
and the Sheaf of the Firstfruits. The Lord commanded the children of Israel
to continue celebrating this feast after Moses led them out of slavery in Egypt
(Leviticus 23:5-11). The Feast of Passover was also significant in the New
Testament because this was the time when Christ was crucified, buried, and
resurrected. Passover is important to us because it is the time period of our
redemption, both as individuals and as the Body of Christ. Special services
and celebrations take place at Church
of the Living Word in North Hills, California, as well as our other churches.
Please consult the Annual Schedule of
Feasts and Festivals for dates.
Feast of Pentecost
This celebration occurs 50 days following the harvest of the Sheaf of the Firstfruits. Pentecost was the time in which the Holy Spirit fell on the disciples as recorded in Acts 2. This feast was the beginning of God's power moving through His people and is considered the birthday of Christ's Church. Special services are held at all Living Word Fellowship churches. Please consult the Annual Schedule of Feasts and Festivals for dates.
School of Prophets and Summer Retreat in Kalona, Iowa
This is one of the most anticipated times of the year for Living Word Fellowship members. While it is a focused time of worship, prayer, and the Word, it is also a wonderful opportunity for members of the churches to fellowship with their brothers and sisters in Christ. Aside from the services, attendees participate in barbeques and many other fun, summer outdoor activities.
Concurrent with the summer retreat is the Young Adult School of Prophets,
and our Fourth of July Independence Day celebration. The Young Adult
School of Prophets is a program focused on maturing our teenage members
through spiritual workshops, participation in the special services, and
times of blessing and Communion. It is also a great opportunity for the
young adults to simply have fun together and get to know other young
people of faith. The Independence Day celebration performed at Shiloh's amphitheater
is a song and dance commemoration of our nation's birthday—complete with
fireworks—which is performed and produced by an all-volunteer group of talented individuals
from our churches across the country.
Our children's program, which we call the "Joshua Generation," is also a major part of the School of Prophets in Shiloh. During this time, the children (11 years old and younger) learn about God's Word and how they, too, can have a personal relationship with the Lord.
Please contact Shiloh for details and registration information.
Feast of Tabernacles
Perhaps the most significant of the biblical feasts, Tabernacles is the feast
of promise. It is made up of three distinct celebrations: Rosh Hashanah, which
is the celebration of the spiritual new year; Yom Kippur, also known as the
Day of Atonement; and Sukkoth, which is the celebration of God dwelling with
His people. Special services, times of fellowship, and fun events for children
and families are all part of the Feast of Tabernacles celebration held at Church of the Living Word in North Hills, California, and our other churches. Please check the Annual Schedule of Feasts and Festivals for dates.
